In the World

Guilford Park is committed to sending our members out of the church and community walls to share the love of Christ in service to others. Our adults, senior highs, and middle schoolers participate in annual mission trips.
Youth Mission Trips
High School and Middle School youth groups from GPPC take annual trips to learn how important it is to serve other people and support worthwhile causes.  New York City, Washington, D.C., and Charleston, S.C., are examples of destinations visited in the past.  Contact Christian Educator Kim Row krow at guilfordpark dot org to find what trips are coming up.

Adult Mission Trips
Adult groups travel to serve others who need help and to enjoy the fellowship of being with other church members.  Trips in the past have been to support needy people in urban and rural locations, and those living in areas damaged by hurricanes.  We travel to Massanetta Springs Conference Center in Harrisonburg, VA each spring to help tidy up the grounds in preparation for the middle school conference that our youths attend.  Mission Committee members can describe past trips and offer details on future plans.

Mexico Mission Trips
Guilford Park members often participate in mission trips to Chiapas in southern Mexico to help with construction and medical projects. Planning, logistics, and leadership are provided by experienced travelers from Salem Presbytery, which sponsors these trips. Neither construction experience nor Spanish skills are required. The GPPC Mission Committee may be able to provide financial support for members willing to help on Mexico Mission Trips.  Contact any member of the GPPC Mission Committee, or click the link above to find out more.
Support of International Missionaries
Guilford Park joins with other congregations to provide financial support for Presbyterian missionaries:
  • Tracey King-Ortega is a Presbyterian Mission co-worker based in Nicaragua since 2005. She serves as World Mission’s regional liaison for Central America
  • Pablo and Jan Feliciano  Cruz have been serving together in Chiapas since 1984.  Pablo is a native of the Tzeltal people group from Southern Mexico, and he was reared in Yaxoquintela, Chiapas.  Jan Kok grew up in Grand Rapids, Mich.
