HAPPENING THIS SUNDAY
Pennies For Hunger- This Sunday the children will receive your Pennies For Hunger offering. Be sure to bring your coins and bills to place in the cups on Sunday.
Join us after worship this Sunday for an informative session on trusts and wills led by Keith Wood. This program will help you understand how thoughtful planning can provide peace of mind, protect your loved ones, and ensure your wishes are honored. Whether you’re just getting started or updating existing plans, this session will offer clear guidance and practical next steps. Refreshments will be served - please sign up on the Congregational Care bulletin board so we can make preparation. This program is sponsored by the Congregational Care and Finance Committees. Childcare and refreshments provided.
November is not only the month of Thanksgiving, but also the month of PW’s Thank Offering, with the theme “Behold I Am Doing A New Thing.” By making a contribution, the Thank Offering gives women and men the opportunity to show concern for others. PW’s national organization funds 7 to 10 grants annually to ministries to improve communities in areas of safe housing, clean water, education, health care, justice for women, and other essential needs. This is an invitation for you to be a part of these grants ($257,897.00 in 2024) by contributing $10.00 or more to help achieve our PW goal of $1,500. Look for blue Thank Offering envelopes at your November circle meetings, on the PW bulletin board, and in the pews in the sanctuary.
Presbyterian Women are collecting donations for their Advent Offering. Donations are being collected for "Mike's Guys." Please consider making a donation. Checks should be made payable to GPPC noting on the memo line PW Advent Offering.
It's time to sign up to support our annual Faith Action Toy Drive
Guilford Park has been faithful in supporting this toy drive across the years, providing Christmas joy for children of immigrant and refugee families in our community, and we are incredibly grateful for the continued generous response. Your gift not only brightens a child’s holiday but also eases the burden for families facing financial hardship. Thank you for considering the opportunity again this year as we look to fulfill wishes for 40 children. This is Guilford Park's only toy/gift collection for children, as we are no longer participating in the Angel Tree effort.
You can sign up to help at church this Sunday or online, using this link: GPPC Faith Action Toy Drive 2025. Choose the child or children for whom you'd like to provide toys/gifts and follow the instructions. If you have any problems or questions, please email Mary Kirkpatrick (mkirkpat4 at gmail dot com). We will be in the hallway for sign-ups this Sunday and on November 23. We are asking that all wrapped gifts be labeled with the child's full name and age and returned to the church by Sunday, December 8.🎄
If you would prefer to make a cash or check donation, we have "elves" who will do your shopping. See Judy Campbell or Mary Kirkpatrick, or place your check in the offering plate and earmark it for "Faith Action Toy Drive." Thank you.

From Fellowship:
- Soup Supper – Sunday, November 23, at 6:30, following the 3:00 Thanksgiving joint service at Fellowship Presbyterian Church and the 5:30 Hanging of the Greens activity at our church. Sign-up sheets are on the Fellowship Committee bulletin board for people willing to contribute a Soup or a Dessert.
- Children’s Pageant – Fellowship Committee will be providing a children-style meal (probably chicken tenders and mac ‘n cheese) to support all the fast-moving people involved in the children’s Christmas pageant on December 10. Mark your calendars to enjoy dinner and the show.
- Christmas Breakfast – Sunday, December 14, at 8:30 am. It’s a great way to begin GPPC’s Christmas celebration.
- Dinners of Eight -- Time for Dinners of Eight. What’s Dinners of Eight? This is probably GPPC’s most popular event. It’s basically a small group covered dish dinner in someone’s home. The host provides the home and the entree; the other participants are assigned a side dish, salad and bread, or dessert. You will eat with different people and have a different assignment each month for the first three months of 2026. Hosting is easy, and 75% of participants will need to do it, but if you can’t host a meal, just note that on the sign-up sheet, and we will accommodate your request. Singles are encouraged to sign up with or without a friend and may be paired with someone else. All adults are welcome. This is a great way to get to know GPPC folks in a relaxed, small-group setting. Sign up by the end of November, as we need time to organize assignments and notify all participants. Assignments will come in late December. Dinner months are January, February, and March. Sign up on the Fellowship bulletin board. Call Jim Lumsden, 847-840-5302, with any questions.
GPPC will be serving and providing dinner at Greensboro Urban Ministry (GUM) on the dates listed below. Duties include welcoming guests, providing a prayer before dinner, serving dinner to the men and women staying at the shelter, and cleaning up any dishes we used. We would love to have you come serve with us. If you have any questions, contact Jenny Beale at jennybeale1 at gmail dot com and watch for the sign-up sheet on the Mission Bulletin Board if you would like to cook or serve.

On December 7, Guilford Park will welcome "Counterpoint," the small mixed chorus from Triad Pride Performing Arts. This is an auditioned ensemble that provides outreach into the community. Their repertoire will include a mix of holiday and and other popular music. The performance will begin in the Fellowship Hall around 7:00 p.m. and will last about 20-25 minutes. Afterward, refreshments will be provided. This event is part of the Justice and Peacemaking Committee's ongoing focus on growing the church's affirmation of those in the LGTBQ community, and promises to be a fun evening of music and fellowship. Sign-up begins this Sunday on the Justice and Peacemaking bulletin board. Come and join us.
