Plan Your Visit
Welcome to Guilford Park Presbyterian Church! Seeking unity in divisive times, we open our doors and our arms to all: the culturally, ethnically, and economically diverse; young and old; gay and straight; believers and seekers.
Just as Jesus reached out to all and included everyone, so do we, the people of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church. We choose to be an affirming church that welcomes all of God's people without exception. We welcome all those who wish to join us in worship and service.
When We Worship
Guilford Park gathers for one blended worship service at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday morning, incorporating elements of traditional and casual/contemporary music. Worship lasts about an hour. You'll sing hymns led by our traditional Chancel Choir and casual songs led by the YES Choir, all in the same service. There's a children's moment near the beginning, when kids are invited up front, and we celebrate communion on the first Sunday of the month.
Our pastor preaches for fifteen minutes or so — short enough to keep your attention, long enough to give you something to chew on for the week. Sermons are meant to comfort and challenge, make you think (and sometimes laugh), all in the service of helping your faith in our loving God to grow. You'll be glad you came.
For Children and Families
Professional child care for infants and toddlers is available every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Adult Sunday school is offered immediately following worship every Sunday.
What to Expect
Our congregation has about 330 members, and on most Sundays you'll see around 125 folks in worship (fewer in the summer and a lot more at Christmas and Easter!). Our church is large enough to offer many excellent programs and opportunities for all ages, but small enough for people actually to learn your name and you to learn theirs.
Worshipers are young, old, and middle-aged. Some people dress casually, others more formally. Nobody is really concerned about what you wear. We're simply glad you're here.
The church is theologically and politically diverse. No need to leave your brain at the door — we graciously discuss the great issues of our day and we respect various viewpoints. We believe being Christian means being carefully informed about what's happening in the world and then applying our faith with head and heart. Come and join us on this exciting journey of faith.
