Associate Pastor for Faith Formation
Guilford Park Presbyterian Church is prayerfully seeking a creative, collaborative pastor to lead intergenerational faith formation and help our community grow in love of God and neighbor.

Thank you for prayerfully considering a call to Guilford Park Presbyterian Church (GPPC). We are a vibrant, Matthew 25 congregation in the heart of Greensboro, North Carolina — welcoming and affirming, open to all followers and seekers of Christ, and especially committed to helping younger generations discover, nurture, and love their relationship with Christ.
This is a newly created, full-time installed position. We're looking for a pastor — including those answering a first ordained call — who will bring energy and imagination to faith formation across every stage of life, from early childhood through young adulthood and beyond.
About the Position
Our ministry is built on four pillars: Education & Spiritual Development, Building Community, Serving Others, and Worship & Music. The Associate Pastor for Faith Formation will fill the primary leadership role in the first two — while partnering closely with our Head Pastor, dedicated staff, Session, and lay leaders.
Intergenerational Faith Formation — ~75%
Envision, organize, staff, and lead educational ministries and spiritual development for children, youth, emerging adults, and the whole congregation — nurturing lay leadership every step of the way.
General Pastoral Duties — ~25%
Preach roughly ten times a year, share in worship leadership, offer pastoral care (especially to youth, young adults, and families), and participate in collaborative leadership with the Session.
What You'd Help Lead
- Early childhood: Buddy & Me weekend activities and care during worship.
- KidsJam (grades 3–5): Service Saturdays, activities, lock-ins, and field trips.
- Middle & high school youth: Montreat and Masanetta youth conferences, Presbytery Youth Conference, YOuthCOllective (YOCO), and more.
- Young adults: an exciting, emerging area of ministry.
- Intergenerational ministry: our popular intergenerational Vacation Bible School and beloved Lenten mid-week evening gatherings.
- Community engagement: the July 4th parade, Fall Hot Dogs & Hayrides, Trunks o' Treats, the Easter Egg Hunt, Greensboro Pride, and other ways we love our neighbors.
We've been experimenting with fresh models for intergenerational faith formation, and we're eager for our new pastor's creative solutions. We're equally committed to sustaining the strengths of our youth ministry — mission trips, camps, and regular programming for tweens and teens.

- Collaborative leadership. A gift for inspiring, growing, and equipping lay leaders and volunteers.
- Honesty, integrity & confidentiality in every aspect of life and ministry.
- A pastor to all. Sensitivity to people's differing life and spiritual journeys, and skill in faith formation across every stage of development.
Comfort with modern communication — social media and group messaging that keep youth and families connected — is a real plus.

Guilford Park is a suburban congregation in the Presbytery of Salem (Synod of the Mid-Atlantic), PC(USA). Known as the "Gate City," Greensboro is the third-largest city in North Carolina and the heart of the Piedmont Triad. It's a place that pairs the amenities and culture of a mid-sized city with genuine affordability, leafy neighborhoods, and easy access to both mountains and coast — a wonderful place to live, raise a family, and do ministry.

Greensboro's overall cost of living runs roughly 5–7% below the national average, with housing costs around 20% lower than the U.S. average. Median home prices generally sit in the upper-$200,000s — a notably gentler housing market than many comparable cities — making homeownership realistically within reach.
Easy to Get Anywhere
- ~15 minutes to Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO).
- ~1.5 hours west to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
- ~1.5 hours to both Raleigh and Charlotte.
- ~3.5–4 hours east to North Carolina's Atlantic beaches.
- Centrally located along I-40 and I-85.
- Easy day trips to the Triangle, the Triad, and beyond.
A City of Learning
Greensboro is home to eight institutions of higher education, bringing a steady current of energy, culture, and young adults to the city. These include the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), North Carolina A&T State University (the nation's largest HBCU), Guilford College (the oldest coeducational college in the South), Bennett College, Greensboro College, and more — rich soil for ministry with students and emerging adults.
